- System Junk: Remove junk files that clutter up your Windows PC. Over time, your Windows system and the apps you use generate obsolete and useless files that steal your disk space. You can get rid of this system junk, even those pesky leftover files that remain after you uninstall an app.
- Cloud Cleaner: Free up space and organize your cloud to make the most of your cloud storage¹. Review and remove duplicate, large and old files.
- Browser Data: Keep browsing history to yourself. Your browser keeps records of where you go and what you do online, and sometimes this can be useful, but it also takes up space on your hard drive and can put your online privacy at risk. By cleaning your local browser data, you make it harder for others to track your online activity.
- Data recovery: Recover lost and deleted data³ by finding deleted files and try recovering them before they are overwritten. Data Recovery enables you to recover deleted files and data lost from hard drives, USB drives and memory cards.
- Install and Activate: Norton Utilities Ultimate is a downloadable software. To get a link to install, sign up and follow the instructions on the order confirmation page or from the link in the confirmation email. You'll also want to copy the activation key that is shown so that it can be pasted during the installation process later on. The link will take you to the Norton website to create or sign in within an existing Norton account required to install the software. Once you're signed in, you can find your Norton Utilities subscription and download the software. From there, you can follow the on-screen prompts to install the software. During this process, you will be asked to enter an activation key, which you can find on the order confirmation page or confirmation email you received when you signed up. Read and accept the License and Services Agreement, then complete the installation.
- Put it to work!: When you open Norton Utilities Ultimate, you'll land on the Dashboard. This is the central hub that gives you a high-level view of your PC's health and links into deeper controls. Some of the things you'll find are a summary status, a “Repair All” button that allows you to apply multiple optimizations or cleanups at once. If the status is “Good”, it means no major issues were found (or you've recently addressed them). If it reports a specific number of issues found, you can click the button to review and fix them. The PC Status tab helps you identify things like low free disk space, too many startup items or memory usage trending high, which are all things that can impact performance.
- Sample workflows: There are several other features included with Norton Utilities Ultimate you can easily use in a few simple steps:
- Scheduling automated cleanups and optimizations: The Automatic Cleaning feature allows you to schedule automatic cleanings for junk files, unused apps and more to optimize your system. You can configure how often it runs and at what level of automation so that it can help keep your PC maintained without you having to manually run tasks each time. To find it, open the menu in the app, find Automatic Cleaning and turn it ON. Once enabled, select how often you want the automatic cleanup or optimization to run (e.g. daily, weekly, monthly). Make sure your settings are saved.
- Safety features that protect against deleting important files: There are several safety features that can help avoid data loss, including recovery tools, uninstall preview and manual selection as you clean up your computer. You can also recover lost and deleted data before they are overwritten with the Data Recovery Feature, which enables you to recover deleted files and data lost from hard drives, USB drives and memory cards³. This can be found in the Toolbox section of the app.
Norton Utilities Ultimate is great for cleaning junk files, optimizing startup programs and improving system performance, especially on older Windows PCs. However, it can't fix hardware problems like failing hard drives or bad RAM, doesn't work well with SSDs for tasks like defragmentation and won't fix serious system corruption or malware infections. It's also not a replacement for full backups or professional data recovery. Think of it as regular PC maintenance, not a tool for major repairs.
